Peru is a country with three regions: tropical coast, highlands and Amazon jungle, each clearly separated by both the climate and their customs, this along with the mixture of races and cultures that have, made of Peruvian territory one of the most rich in terms of geographical diversity is concerned, it has a desert area in the coastal region, despite being in the tropics. The coast has 48% of the country’s inhabitants and is the region where is located the largest city and capital of Peru, Lima, with a population of 8 million inhabitants. For most of the year, the sky is covered by clouds that only release their moisture in the form of drizzle or mist. On the coast there are four of the six largest cities of Peru: Lima, Trujillo (600 thousand), Chiclayo (520 thousand) and Piura (325 thousand). The coast contains archaeological remains of great antiquity and importance. The discovery of the tomb of Sipan further highlights the archaeological wealth of their ancestors. Besides these archaeological attractions Coast offers miles of beach ideal for swimming or water sports. The Sierra owns 43% of the population and the great and notable cities are Cuzco, Puno, Arequipa and Ayacucho. The height of this region exceeds 4,800 m, with towering peaks, glaciers and lakes. In the jungle there are wonderful tropical forests, where the Andes, which separates it from a narrow coastal strip from 70 to 200 kilometers wide.
